ECO-TRIP CAMPAIGN

Join to be an ECO-TRIPper

You are invited to design and demonstrate your own ECO-TRIP campaign to stimulate eco-friendly trips in your direct environment, focussing mainly on trips from and to your school.
To directly involve you in the campaign, we ask you to create your own short movie on ecotrips.
By doing this, we hope and expect to raise enthusiasm amongst you and your peers on this theme and to give you tools to form your own opinion on sustainable transport.

The ECO-TRIP Campaign consists of 4 Levels

The first level will be a debate to introduce the campaign to the students. During this debating session the modal split will be measured, meaning that everyone has to indicate how they travel to and from school every day.
The level in becoming a true ECO-TRIPPER step is the creation and production of a short movie by the students themselves.

Level three is the ECO-TRIP week. In this week the whole school will try to travel to and from school in an eco-friendly way. During the ECO-TRIP week there will be a measurement to see if the eco-friendly trips have increased compared to the situation before the project. Furthermore, in this week a slogan contest will be held, to create involvement of students from all classes. Schools are very welcome to organise any other theme-related activity in this week.
The last step of the campaign is the final event. This will be a national and international short movie contest.

The Video Competition

Your mission:
Design a short movie that promotes eco-tripping! Themes for the videos are eco-friendly trips and sustainability (home-school trips, but also leisure trips). But we invite you to be creative and new, so other sub-themes like healthy or traffic safety can be included as well. Moreover, it is important to consider the climate protection by saving car trips to school and/or leisure activities.

The competition:
By creating your own video you take part in a European wide competition to make the most attractive/interesting/fun/… short movie. The video competition is divided into three different levels:
  • School level: Who makes the best campaign within your school! (school jury)
  • National level: Who is the best in your country! (national jury)
  • European level: Who is the best campaigner of Europe! (international jury)

This year’s campaign will start in the fall of 2009 and will last a school year. Winners will be selected in the spring 2010. Prizes vary within the different levels, but winners gain at least European wide acknowledgement and fame! The best video’s will be placed in the ‘Hall of Fame’ and will be released on the ECO-Tripper DVD. If the quality is high enough, we will promote the winners to film festivals. Do you have a smoking or evening dress?

Deadline for the video is March 12, 2010! So you have roughly 5 months to come up with an idea and get your movie on track. From that moment on participating schools will be able to start their ECO-TRIP week in spring. This is a week that aims at really shifting to more sustainable transport modes.

Every school can submit maximum five movies for the national contest.
If you have more than five, the school (and this includes you) decide which ones to send in. The national and international video jury will assemble in April 2010. Winners will be made public May-June 2010.
