What & why?The Traffic Snake Game is a fun game and campaign that stimulates young children (and their parents) to go to school in an environment-friendly, safe and healthy way.
Lots of children and parents find themselves in a vicious circle: “Car traffic is increasing leading to more unsafe situations that increases the feeling of insecurity of parents. As a result, parents drive their children to school by car resulting in more car traffic in the school environment…”
Safe and eco-friendly to schoolThe Traffic Snake Game stimulates schools, children and parents to break this vicious circle and encourages them to walk or cycle more to school, certainly those living close to the school, or by taking the bus or car sharing.
By cycling and walking more children improve their bicycle skills, they become more familiar with daily traffic and their ability to anticipate other road users actions improves.
Furthermore, walking and cycling contribute to the recommended amount of exercise a child or adult needs everyday. It also reduces traffic chaos and parking pressure at schools.
Through this campaign, we offer children the possibility to travel to school safely and in an eco-friendly way. The campaign contains a game that can easily be adapted to offer education concerning traffic and mobility, environmental and health issues.
A European campaign! While playing the Traffic Snake Game you are part of a European Campaign.
To see which schools do allready participate in the Traffic Snake Game please look at "My School" at the kids section.
We suggest playing the game during (at least) one week in May. This way the game is being played in different countries in Europe at the same time by a select group of primary schools in Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Slovenia, The Netherlands and United Kingdom.
Have you been selected as a pilot school for the Traffic Snake Game? If yes, please register your school! After registration you will receive a password for the internal download-centre for teachers.
